IANTD is the oldest federation in the world offering technical training. It was created in 1985 in the USA by the International Association of Nitrox Divers (IAND). Its founder was Richard „Dick” Rutkowski, diving and hyperbaric medicine researcher studying the usage of gas blends in diving. Since the very beginning of its existence the federation has promoted the use of nitrox in recreational diving. As of 1992 the federation is managed by Tom Mount, the organization merged with the European Association of Technical Divers (EATD) and changed its name to the Association of Nitrox and Technical Divers (IANTD). IANTD is the leader in nitrox, gas blending, technical, trimix and rebreather training programs. IANTD is a prestigious diving federation operating in the USA, Europe and Asia. IANTD’s philosophy:
IANTD, the International Association of Technical and Nitrox Divers, is likely the largest of the agencies specialising in technical dive training. It’s CEO, Tom Mount, was a pioneer in the fields of Cave and Technical Sport Diving.
This agency offers a full menu of sport diving courses, including entry-level scuba, enriched air nitrox, cave and technical diving courses. They publish a magazine dedicated to the subject of nitrox and technical diving as well as offer a variety of materials and products for the technical diver.
IANTD was the first agency that offered training in all aspects of EANx through continuing education programs. This allows you to expand your knowledge and training with the top professionals in the field..
IANTD instructors are well trained, highly experienced and extremely qualified. IANTD Standards and Procedures provide for the highest level of EANx education and training available from Snorkeling through to Trimix and Rebreathers.
IANTD (IAND, Inc.) was founded by Dick Rutkowski, the former dive supervisor for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). Mr. Rutkowski introduced the recreational diving community to the technology of EANx. This program was developed through NOAA during his tenure. Today the board of directors and the membership of IANTD are composed of many of the most experienced divers in the world pertaining to the use of breathing gases other than air..
IANTD was one of the first International dive agencies to offer a certification program in Enriched Air Nitrox, the company was kept at a slow, yet steady pace from 1985 through February of 1992 with the support of Hyperbarics International. In 1991 Tom Mount joined Dick and IANTD became the FIRST to offer training programs in all aspects of technical diving (Advanced Nitrox, Deep Air, Technical Diver, Cave and Wreck Penetration, Normoxic Trimix, Trimix, Expedition Trimix, Rebreathers, etc.
The International Association of Nitrox and Technical Divers- IANTD is a recognized leader in SCUBA diving training and provides courses throughout the world, from entry level classes to the most advanced technical diving training. An IANTD certification card is validation that an individual diver has successfully completed the requirements of the curriculum and has met the standards of the certification level. IANTD certification cards are known worldwide and are displayed with pride by divers everywhere.
